Maya Singh

She has been studying and performing dance since the age of 3. Believing in the universal language of dance and the importance of versatility of expression, she has trained in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, modern, lyrical, Bollywood, Rajasthani folk and world dance.  

In addition to local shows and celebrations, she has performed with the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker as a snowflake and French variation, with Mona Khan Dance Company as a junior emerging performer, and most extensively with Dance Attack Contemporary Performing Arts Company (DAC PAC) under the direction of Cheryl Copeland.

She has won scholarships and awards at dance conventions and competitions such as the American Dance Awards, Jump, Adrenaline, Nuvo, 24-7, ASH and Art of Movement. She has been fortunate to work with brilliant choreographers such as Sidra Bell, Aminya Houston, Anthony Morigerato, Matt Luck, Liana Blackburn, Cindy Salgado, Jess Hendricks, Carlos Jones, Arcell Cabuag, Reed Tankersly, Dana Wilson, Shakti Mohan, and Rujuta Vaidya.  

She was chosen among thousands of contestants aged 13-30 making it to the Dance India Dance North America finals as the one of the youngest contestants televised on Zee Tv. 

At 17 she is the recipient of the award of excellence and winner of PTA Reflections Art contest for Santa Clara Unified School District for outstanding choreography advancing to the 3rd level of competition thus far. She is a recent scholarship winner of The World Dance competition. She is applying to BFA programs across the county to continue her study of dance. To date, she has been awarded a scholarship to join the BFA program at the University of Colorado at Boulder and invited to audition for Fordham’s Alvin Ailey BFA program.
